What is the Security Officer Licence

Holders of the Security Guard Licence are eligible to take on a number of jobs in the private security sector.
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) issuing the licence, which has a three-year expiration date. Requirements

You must be 18 years old, legally able to work in the UK, and have completed the Security Guard Course in order to qualify for a SIA Security Guard Licence. Additionally, the SIA will run identity and criminal history checks on you.

Training

You must complete formal training and pass the test in order to submit an application for the Door Supervisor Licence with the SIA.

Security Guard Assessment

Four multiple-choice tests and a practical exam are used to evaluate the course. These will be held on the last day of the course and will assess your understanding of the material covered.

Pass your course

Complete SIA application form

Starting a licence application will cost you £190. Within 25 working days, the SIA will respond to your inquiry. Rarely, this could take up to six weeks.

Submit photo ID

To fulfil some requirements of your SIA application, particularly your photo ID, you must prove your identity. The Post Office is where you may accomplish this the simplest method. The back of your photo ID can also be signed by a non-relative who holds a British passport.

Renewing your Security Guard Licence

Renewing your licence before or after 1st October 2021?

Before you can renew your licence, you must pass the “Up-Skilling for Security Guards” award if you need the additional refresher training. Our training providers that deliver the license-linked door monitoring qualification have this course accessible.

Finally, four months before to the license’s expiration, you can begin the renewal process. Only after your current licence has expired will the new one start. The application fee is £190, which is non-refundable.
